Cloud Firewall Test Engineer – Automation with Playwright & Python

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Cloud Firewall Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of its cloud‑delivered firewall platform. The role focuses on building robust automated tests using Playwright and Python, and leverages AI‑assisted tools to accelerate test creation and maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated end‑to‑end and API test suites with Playwright and Python.
• Validate firewall capabilities such as policy management, rule behavior, logging, authentication flows, and upgrade processes in a microservices environment.
• Build layered test coverage across service‑level APIs and critical user journeys to reduce flaky tests.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, enabling parallel execution, reporting, and artifact collection.
• Collaborate with software engineers and product owners to improve testability and define quality gates.
• Troubleshoot complex failures using logs, metrics, and traces, and drive root‑cause analysis.
• Utilize AI‑based testing tools to generate starter code, refactor tests, summarize failures, and create test data.
• Contribute to test infrastructure enhancements, including environment provisioning and mock/stub management.

Required profile

• 6–8 years of experience in QA/Test Engineering, SDET, or software engineering with a testing focus.
• Strong hands‑on Python programming skills beyond simple scripting.
• Proven experience with Playwright for UI automation, employing maintainable patterns such as page objects and fixtures.
• Experience testing microservices‑based cloud applications.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model, attending the HPE office two days per week.
