BSA/AML/OFAC Officer

About the role

Arival Bank, a US‑licensed digital bank serving global SMEs, is looking for an experienced BSA/AML/OFAC Officer to lead its financial‑crime compliance program. The role will be based on‑site in San Juan, Puerto Rico and will ensure the bank meets all AML, sanctions and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain the bank’s BSA/AML/OFAC compliance framework.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators, auditors and banking partners on compliance matters.
• Lead transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, investigations and regulatory reporting.
• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and controls for existing and new products.
• Coordinate regulatory examinations, independent reviews and external audits, ensuring timely remediation.
• Oversee customer onboarding, KYC, CDD and EDD processes to meet internal and regulatory standards.
• Maintain compliance relationships with correspondent banks and strategic partners.
• Monitor regulatory developments and emerging financial‑crime risks, updating policies as needed.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk and Legal teams to support growth while preserving a strong compliance culture.
• Provide leadership, guidance and development opportunities for the compliance team.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in BSA/AML, sanctions compliance, financial‑crime or regulatory compliance within banking, fintech or financial services.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience managing compliance or AML teams.
• Strong knowledge of BSA, AML, OFAC, FinCEN, USA PATRIOT Act, CIP, CDD, EDD and SAR requirements.
• Proven experience working directly with regulators, auditors and banking partners.
