Bioreactor Technician – Fermentation & Inoculum Production

About the role

AmpliAqua is seeking a Bioreactor Technician to manage daily fermentation operations and produce bacterial and fungal inocula for its sustainable aquaculture solutions. The role is hands‑on, on‑site, and integral to the broader production team, collaborating with RAS, bioponics, and microalgae units.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain fermentation bioreactors and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, aeration, and temperature/agitation controls.
• Prepare culture media and sterile materials for bacterial and fungal fermentations.
• Perform inoculations, strain transfers, batch scale‑up, and harvesting of biomass or inocula.
• Monitor critical fermentation parameters (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, agitation, cell/spore density) and report deviations.
• Support downstream steps including concentration, stabilization, packaging, and dispatch of inocula.
• Participate in shared facility tasks and assist other production areas as needed.
• Contribute to internal trials and scale‑up validations from an equipment and execution perspective.

Required profile

• 4–5+ years of hands‑on experience operating fermenters/bioreactors for bacterial or fungal production.
• BSc or MSc in biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry or a related field (preferred).
• Proven ability to run fermentation processes independently with strong sterile technique.
