Barista

About the role

As a Barista at Reid's Palace, a Belmond Hotel in Madeira, you will support daily operations by preparing coffee, beverages and other products to established recipes and quality standards, while delivering attentive and personalized service to guests.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare espresso‑based drinks, teas, hot chocolate, iced coffees and other non‑alcoholic beverages according to the café menu and standards.
• Apply correct coffee dosage, grinding, extraction, temperature and presentation under the guidance of the Head Barista.
• Maintain consistency in beverage preparation during varying service volumes.
• Welcome guests promptly and provide personalized service throughout each interaction.
• Provide accurate information about coffee, ingredients and preparation methods, offering suitable recommendations.
• Collaborate with the service team to ensure consistent, high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar barista role.
• Guest‑focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Creativity and innovation in beverage preparation.
• Motivating, collaborative attitude with a sense of responsibility and accountability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Very good spoken English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of coffee preparation, origins, varieties, roasting, extraction and latte art.
• Proficiency with espresso machine operation and beverage preparation methods.
