Backend Java Developer

About the role

Vodafone is looking for a skilled Java Software Engineer to join its software development team. You will help build functional, scalable backend applications and services that support our global connectivity mission.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, build and optimise backend scalable applications.
• Deliver high‑quality solutions quickly, following best practices and standards.
• Ensure application responsiveness and reliability.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs.
• Meet both technical specifications and consumer needs.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of core Java and the Java ecosystem.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot and building micro‑services.
• Familiarity with REST API design, JSON, XML, Maven and Git version control.
• Hands‑on experience writing unit tests (JUnit, Mockito) and automated system tests.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Nexus and SonarQube.
• Knowledge of design patterns and clean‑code principles.
• Proficiency with relational (SQL, PostgreSQL) and non‑relational (MongoDB) databases.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Fluent English communication skills.
