Back End Engineer

About the role

Thought Machine is building the next generation of banking technology in the cloud. As a Back End Engineer you will join the Vault product team in Lisbon, taking full ownership of backend features that power modern core and payments services for banks worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services that run natively in the cloud.
• Own the end‑to‑end implementation of requirements, from engineering design through task breakdown to production code.
• Ensure code is secure, scalable, and performant while adhering to continuous‑deployment and monorepo best practices.
• Collaborate closely with front‑end engineers to deliver seamless, configurable user experiences for diverse banking clients.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and operational monitoring to maintain high quality standards.

• Ability to work fast‑paced while maintaining rigorous code quality.
