Azure Platform Senior Consultant

About the role

Avanade, Accenture's Microsoft ecosystem partner, is expanding its Infrastructure Community in Portugal to support a large-scale digital transformation project for a major insurer. The project modernizes core life insurance systems, optimizes hybrid environments and accelerates secure cloud adoption. As a Senior Infrastructure Consultant, you will act as technical anchor and trusted advisor, designing, building and migrating enterprise cloud environments on Microsoft Azure so that the infrastructure supporting core insurance operations is secure, highly available, compliant with financial regulations and fully automated.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy high-level and low-level designs for scalable Azure infrastructure (IaaS and PaaS)
• Architect secure hybrid connectivity between on-premises datacenters and Azure using ExpressRoute, VPNs and Azure Virtual WAN
• Migrate legacy insurance applications to modern cloud-native architectures
• Standardize environment provisioning with Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates and integrate deployments into Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions pipelines
• Write PowerShell or Azure CLI scripts to automate operations, compliance checks and patching
• Implement Zero Trust identity and access with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, PIM and Conditional Access
• Configure Azure Key Vault, disk encryption and data protection for policyholder information
• Design and test Disaster Recovery and backup strategies with Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery to meet insurance RTO/RPO metrics
• Act as the main technical point of contact for the client's IT leadership, mentor junior team members and give FinOps recommendations based on Azure Advisor and Microsoft Cost Management

Required profile

• 5+ years of IT infrastructure engineering, with at least 3 years focused on Microsoft Azure enterprise deployments
• Experience in regulated environments such as Financial Services, Insurance or Banking is highly valued
• Fluent English (written and spoken); professional Portuguese required for client interaction
• Solid understanding of Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and ITIL service management

Required skills

• Azure networking (VNet peering, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Application Gateways) and cloud security
• Windows Server and/or Linux administration
• Terraform or Bicep, plus PowerShell scripting
• Preferred: AZ-305, AZ-104 and HashiCorp Terraform Associate certifications
