Automation Engineer – Test Systems (Hardware & Software)

About the role

Join Bosch's Research & Development Center in Braga as an Automation Engineer focused on hardware and software test systems for automotive products. You will design, integrate and industrialise end‑to‑end automation solutions that support the production of cutting‑edge car multimedia and safety sensors.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the industrialisation of automated test and manufacturing systems, integrating PLCs, robotics, machine‑vision, sensors, actuators and HMIs.
• Define hardware, electrical, mechanical and software architectures for new production equipment and test stations, ensuring compliance with project, quality and automotive standards.
• Coordinate suppliers throughout development, construction, validation and acceptance of manufacturing and test equipment.
• Support installation, commissioning, ramp‑up and optimisation of new production lines locally and internationally.
• Develop and enhance automation concepts, machine programmes and vision‑inspection systems to improve product quality, traceability and productivity.
• Plan and execute machine validation, process qualification, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis activities.
• Monitor manufacturing performance indicators and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives using Industry 4.0, digitalisation and automation technologies.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for all automation solutions.
