Archaeological Technician

About the role

Tetra Tech is looking for an Archaeological Technician to support historic resource identification and compliance work in Puerto Rico. You will work closely with internal teams and the State Historic Preservation Office to protect NRHP‑eligible sites while contributing to NEPA and Section 106 documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys, pedestrian walks, shovel tests and test unit excavations.
• Prepare Section 106 documentation, historic resources survey reports and assessments of effects.
• Assist in the preparation of NEPA documentation and coordinate environmental resource studies.
• Perform on‑site archaeological monitoring and support field team coordination.
• Research data, draft archaeological descriptions and produce technical reports.
• Capture field notes using a field iPad and track project time and expenses.

Required profile

• Familiarity with the National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106) and the National Environmental Policy Act.
• Experience with Puerto Rico environmental policies, historic resource identification and technical report writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, project managers and state/federal agencies.
