Application Engineer – Automotive Systems

About the role

The Application Engineer will lead the development of electromechanical systems for the mobility sector, from concept through to series production. Working within Bontaz Portugal’s Development Center, you will collaborate closely with customers and internal experts to deliver innovative solutions for internal combustion, battery‑electric and hybrid vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the development of a system or subsystem from project start to SOP, ensuring all specifications are met.
• Produce product and process FMEAs and create the Design Verification Plan (DVP) with associated testing.
• Coordinate design activities, involve technical experts, and seek external expertise when needed.
• Maintain technical data in the PLM at the required maturity level for each milestone.
• Participate in prototype manufacturing, testing, and feedback collection.
• Monitor quality, technical, cost and time indicators and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Strong experience in design development, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); French required; Portuguese essential for direct customer interaction.
• Dynamic, team‑oriented mindset with high autonomy and strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
