Android Developer – RFID & Hardware Integration

About the role

We are seeking an Android Developer to join a hybrid project in Aveiro, focusing on the development and integration of RFID, barcode, and scanning hardware within native Android applications. You will work in a collaborative, people‑first environment that values technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reusable RFID libraries and modules for multiple Android apps.
• Integrate and stabilize SDKs for RFID readers, barcode scanners, and similar devices.
• Implement reading processes optimized for consistency, reliability, and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve intermittent lifecycle and state‑management issues in Kotlin.
• Define and maintain observability practices, including logging, metrics, and tracking.
• Ensure software quality through unit, instrumentation, and regression testing.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate production issues into technical improvements.
• Continuously improve system robustness in real‑world operational environments.

Required profile

• Minimum 3+ years of professional mobile development experience.
• Strong expertise in native Android development using Kotlin.
• Solid experience with Coroutines, Flow, and concurrency/state management.
• Proven experience integrating hardware SDKs (e.g., RFID, barcode, scanning devices).
• Familiarity with messaging systems such as MQTT.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills in complex environments.
• Good practices in testing, code quality, and peer code reviews.
• Experience using GitHub and continuous integration workflows.
