Soy Crosser

About the role

The Soy Crosser supports Bayer’s soybean and cotton nursery operations, performing hands‑on tasks that enable the development of new parent lines and the integration of novel traits. This role combines field work with data collection to ensure high‑quality seed production.

Key responsibilities

• Hand pollinate soybeans and cotton to develop new parent lines or integrate new traits.
• Plant, thin, weed, tag, and maintain soybean nursery plots.
• Prepare packets for planting, conduct assay sprays, harvest, thresh, and package seed.
• Use handheld computers to record pollination, seed production and crop development data.
• Follow Bayer’s Health, Safety & Environmental and QA/QC standards, participating in safety inspections and training.
• Report any quality issues to supervisors and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic IT knowledge (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ability to use handheld devices.
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lb.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work days, nights, rotating shifts, weekends and overtime as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
