Senior Financial Auditor – Accounting Control

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Financial Auditor to join our Lisbon team. In this role you will oversee accounting control across multiple regions and entities, ensuring the Group Accounting Control Plan is effectively implemented and monitored.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire deep knowledge of accounting control set‑ups within assigned regions and entities.
• Build transparent, two‑way communication with regional finance stakeholders.
• Roll out and monitor the Group Accounting Control Plan, performing oversight reviews of control set‑ups.
• Identify, measure and report deficiencies in accounting controls to senior management and governance bodies.
• Ensure regional finance teams comply with control obligations and fully implement prescribed procedures.
• Perform LOD2 controls on Head Office central teams.
• Obtain and analyse accounting certificates from entities, understand their production and control environments, and report issues with clear remediation plans.
• Contribute to the preparation of related audit and control reports.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in control, finance or audit, preferably within the banking or financial sector.
• Strong accounting expertise with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality audit outcomes.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Organisational ability and critical thinking to analyse complex control environments.
