Senior Engineer

About the role

Frank is a fast‑growing insurtech startup based in Lisbon, looking for a Senior Engineer to help design, build and scale its core backend platform. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating closely with product, design and other engineers to deliver high‑impact features.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs.
• Own end‑to‑end data workflows, including database structure, optimization and integrity.
• Partner with product, design and engineering teams to ship valuable features.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues and continuously improve the backend infrastructure.
• Contribute ideas for technical challenges and future product direction.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building backend systems with a strong academic background.
• Versatile engineer comfortable with multiple programming languages.
• Fluent in English and able to work hybrid (2 days/week in Lisbon).
• Valid visa or work permit for Portugal.
