Senior Controller – Finance & Accounting

About the role

Yazio is seeking a Senior Controller to own and continuously improve its controlling function. You will lead the monthly close, ensure accurate financial reporting, and act as the internal authority on technical accounting matters while supporting the company’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Build, own and drive the end‑to‑end monthly close process, delivering fast and accurate reporting.
• Review and sign off accruals, cut‑off entries, reconciliations and reporting packages for Management and FP&A.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for complex technical accounting questions, including new business models and contracts.
• Develop and maintain technical accounting documentation (e.g., revenue recognition, capitalization, leases).
• Manage external partners such as accountants, tax advisors and auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls by identifying anomalies and improving control effectiveness.
• Drive process and system improvements to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
• Leverage AI tools for analysis, variance explanations, audit preparation and accounting research while retaining full accountability.

Required profile

• Several years of hands‑on experience in Accounting, Controlling or Financial Reporting, preferably in fast‑scaling environments.
• Prior experience leading or coordinating a small accounting team is a plus.
• In‑depth knowledge of German HGB; exposure to IFRS is advantageous.
• Proven ownership of the full monthly close cycle with high‑quality reporting.
• Strong internal‑controls mindset and ability to design and improve processes.
• Advanced DATEV skills and confidence working with accounting systems and financial data.
