Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Emma – The Sleep Company is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its ERP team. You will help build the high‑performance APIs and distributed systems that power global fulfillment and logistics for the world’s largest direct‑to‑consumer sleep brand.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale backend services using Go and TypeScript to support global operations.
• Create and maintain secure, high‑throughput REST APIs that integrate internal systems and third‑party providers.
• Implement event‑driven architectures with AWS services such as SNS and SQS.
• Own backend components end‑to‑end, including development, testing, deployment, and monitoring (full DevOps).
• Ensure code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Participate in an agile team, share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute to recruiting efforts.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable backend systems in a cloud environment.
• Strong background with Go (Golang) and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience building event‑driven architectures using AWS SNS/SQS.
• Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and systems integration patterns.
• Solid computer‑science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, design patterns.
• Several years of backend development experience, preferably in fast‑paced e‑commerce or logistics.
