Project Manager – Software Development

About the role

SMX Services & Consulting is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager to lead software development initiatives in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The role involves full‑life‑cycle management of application development and system implementation projects in a fast‑paced, bilingual environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end software development projects, aligning with SDLC phases (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment).
• Plan technical tasks, allocate resources, and manage day‑to‑day execution of scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Coordinate development, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Monitor progress, provide status reports, and ensure projects stay on time and within budget.
• Enforce development standards, QA processes, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify, track, and mitigate risks; resolve technical and functional issues.
• Maintain accurate project and technical documentation.
• Communicate technical progress to leadership and stakeholders, translating impact into business terms.
• Support business analysis, requirements definition, and creation of workflows, use cases, and system designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) with at least 5 years of enterprise‑level software development or IT project management experience.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage cross‑functional technical teams in matrixed organizations.
• Strong analytical and risk‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Knowledge of application architecture, databases, and system integrations.
