Lead Transmission Line Engineer (Senior)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to design high‑voltage transmission lines ranging from 69 kV to 765 kV. The role includes mentoring junior engineers, coordinating design activities, and ensuring compliance with client specifications, codes, and internal processes. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement (three days onsite, two days remote) and may include a relocation package.

Key responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69 kV‑765 kV range using PLS‑CADD.
• Mentor and train less‑experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and studies in client‑required formats.
• Perform independent reviews of calculations, drawings, and transmission line models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.

Required profile

• BS degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
• 12 + years of transmission line design experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship provided).

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software.
• Knowledge of engineering standards: NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings and calculations.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS and digital design tools.
• Exposure to AI, automation, or programming for engineering workflows (optional).
