Financial Director

About the role

The company seeks a Financial Director to lead the subsidiary’s finance function in Portugal. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, budgeting and internal controls, while supporting senior management with strategic financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and continuously improve the subsidiary’s financial management and control system in line with Portuguese regulations, IFRS and Group policies.
• Lead accounting, preparation and filing of financial statements, month‑end closing and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Manage treasury and tax affairs, optimise fund allocation, mitigate financial risks and ensure compliant tax planning and cross‑border fund flows.
• Organise annual budgeting, monitor implementation, control costs, analyse variances and drive profitability improvements.
• Participate in major operational decisions and investment project evaluations, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop risk‑prevention mechanisms and internal control procedures to ensure efficient financial operations.

Required profile

• Chinese national with deep understanding of European business culture and regulations, willing to work long‑term in Portugal.
• Minimum 8 years of finance experience, including prior roles as Financial Director or Manager in Europe (preferably Portugal).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a Big Four European accounting firm is a plus.

Required skills

• Fluency in Chinese and English; Portuguese language skills are advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Portuguese fiscal and tax regulations, and foreign‑exchange rules.
• Extensive experience in tax planning, treasury management and internal‑control development.
• Proficiency with financial and office software tools.
