Engineering Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of around 15 software engineers in Portugal. The role focuses on people leadership, fostering a collaborative culture, and ensuring high‑quality delivery across multiple product streams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop software engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career planning.
• Create a psychologically safe, motivating work environment and address performance or behavioural issues when needed.
• Build strong relationships with Scrum Masters, Project Managers, Product Owners, and Architects to align people management with product delivery.
• Balance business priorities with employee well‑being and sustainable delivery.
• Contribute to the evolution of the Software Engineering function, supporting common practices, standards, and processes.
• Drive initiatives that improve collaboration, quality, efficiency, and employee engagement.
• Help establish a consistent engineering culture across teams and locations and support organisational change.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of people‑management experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing engineering teams.
• Strong leadership style built on trust, empathy, accountability, and constructive feedback.
• Excellent collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
• Solid understanding of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and engineering workflows.
