Cost Engineer – Aerostructures

About the role

The Cost Engineer will coordinate and control internal and external resources, ensuring compliance with cost, time and quality requirements for Airbus Aerostructures projects. The role includes budget responsibility and supports strategic buyers in negotiations with suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and control internal and external resources for cost‑sensitive projects.
• Ensure compliance with cost, schedule and quality targets, holding budget responsibility.
• Manage design‑to‑cost projects with Airbus Aerostructures suppliers.
• Identify cost‑optimization opportunities at supplier sites.
• Represent the cost‑engineering viewpoint and advise strategic buyers during negotiations.
• Conduct shop‑floor assessments using lean approaches.
• Initiate and monitor corrective measures and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Analyse market data and develop detailed cost structures across the supply chain.
• Provide business intelligence on market trends to shape purchasing strategy.
• Deliver regular status updates and present results to management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Master’s degree in engineering, materials science, technical business administration, economics or a comparable field.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, design‑to‑cost/value, lean management and cost calculation (desired).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing metallic materials and/or composites and related production processes.
• Proven project‑management experience and ability to analyse technical information.
• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• Business‑fluent in English; German is a plus.
