Backend PHP Developer (French speaker) – Permanent

About the role

We are looking for a Backend PHP Developer to join our brand‑new Technology Hub in Lisbon. You will design, develop and maintain robust backend services and REST APIs using PHP 8.x and Laravel, working closely with front‑end developers, product teams and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend features with PHP 8.x and Laravel.
• Build, document and maintain REST APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Design, optimise and maintain MySQL databases for performance and scalability.
• Develop asynchronous processes, including queues, jobs and scheduled tasks.
• Write automated tests using PHPUnit and Pest to ensure reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot incidents and support security and stability.

Required profile

• Strong experience with PHP 8.x and the Laravel framework.
• Proven ability to build and maintain REST APIs.
• Solid knowledge of MySQL database design and optimisation.
• Familiarity with version control using Git.
• Experience writing automated tests with PHPUnit or Pest.
• Comfort with asynchronous processing (queues, jobs, scheduled tasks).
• Fluent French language skills.
