Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) – Azure & ERP Integration

About the role

Newfire Global Partners is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its engineering team in Portugal. You will work on a large‑scale digital transformation for a luxury retail client, modernising a custom e‑commerce platform and the surrounding enterprise systems built on Microsoft Azure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement integrations between the ERP, internal applications and third‑party vendor systems using SFTP, APIs and message queues.
• Develop and maintain .NET services across the Azure estate, including Azure Logic Apps, App Services and Azure SQL workloads.
• Diagnose and resolve SQL Server performance issues such as deadlocks, timeouts and slow queries, and optimise schema and indexing.
• Onboard new vendors onto the integration platform and engineer reliable scheduled/batch jobs with robust failure handling and monitoring.
• Refactor legacy code, consolidate duplicated logic and retire obsolete components.
• Translate finance, inventory and order‑management workflows into technical solutions, and create tests and documentation for owned services.
• Participate in code reviews, pod ceremonies and production incident triage.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience building .NET applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong background in Azure services and SQL Server performance tuning.
• Proven ability to design and maintain complex integrations and batch processing pipelines.
• Comfort working with legacy codebases and driving refactoring initiatives.
