Real Estate Accountant with QuickBooks Experience

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant to support multiple real‑estate clients. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, delivering accurate month‑end close, reporting, and financial analysis that drives client success.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and address any discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting, and budget‑to‑actual analysis as needed.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors, and assisting with audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to enhance accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience; real‑estate industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Fluent English (B2+), comfortable communicating with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
• Willingness to work as an independent contractor.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (QBO) proficiency.
• Advanced Excel skills.
