About the role
The Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership on a shift, directing patient care, coordinating staff, and ensuring a safe, empathetic environment.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee a unit or work group for a specified shift, scheduling staff to ensure full coverage.
- Provide direct patient care and monitor/coordinate nursing and support staff activities.
- Lead, guide, and train employees, and conduct nursing evaluations and consultations.
- Coordinate services with other departments, oversee quality‑assurance activities, and promote continuous improvement of safety and environmental practices.
Required profile
- Current RN license in the state where the facility operates.
- BSN preferred; at least 6 months of RN experience required, with 1 year preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery settings is preferred.
Required skills
- CPR certification.
- De‑escalation and restraint certification (training provided if needed).
- First‑aid certification where required by state or facility.
