Java Software Engineer – Material Flow Systems

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Java Software Engineer to join our Material Flow Systems team. You will help leading parcel carriers operate highly automated sorting facilities by designing, developing and deploying robust software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications that control and optimise automated parcel sorting systems and logistics hubs.
• Design, implement and deliver software for major parcel carriers, ensuring high speed and scalability.
• Implement efficient algorithms and optimise code performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and incorporate them where appropriate.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the development team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least one year of hands‑on experience with Java as the primary development language.
• Experience developing and/or deploying applications in Kubernetes‑based environments.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, software architecture and object‑oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites worldwide and to team meetings in Portugal and Germany (less than 10% of working time).
