AI Engineer – Software Development Tools

About the role

HPE is looking for a junior‑to‑mid‑level AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy AI‑powered solutions that boost productivity, quality and efficiency across the software development lifecycle. The role works closely with engineers, architects, DevOps and leadership to turn high‑value developer workflows into intelligent, generative‑AI experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate Generative AI, LLM, RAG and AI‑agent capabilities into coding, code‑review, testing, CI/CD and release processes.
• Build applications that use embeddings, vector databases and tool‑calling to create AI‑powered assistants for code understanding, failure diagnosis and test generation.
• Integrate AI services with existing APIs, source‑code repositories, CI/CD pipelines and developer environments.
• Evaluate models, prompts and architectures for accuracy, latency, cost and developer value.
• Implement AI quality evaluation mechanisms, including automated testing, human feedback and monitoring.
• Instrument AI tools to measure adoption, productivity impact and business value.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML or related field.
• 2–6 years of software engineering or AI/ML engineering experience with production‑grade code.
• Hands‑on experience building applications with Generative AI and Large Language Models.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with REST APIs, micro‑services and modern cloud/container platforms.
• Ability to translate engineering pain points into practical AI solutions.
