About the role
We are seeking a forward‑thinking Technology Director to shape and execute the technical vision for our Energy & Critical Infrastructure cluster. The role drives architecture, safety, and cybersecurity for software that powers smart metering, grid management, renewable energy and other mission‑critical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Define and lead the technology vision, principles and reference roadmaps aligned with company strategy.
- Act as the technical authority for regulated, safety‑critical energy software across metering, head‑end systems, substations, grid and renewables.
- Build scalable architectures and reusable assets that can be applied across multiple customers.
- Set high standards for cybersecurity, interoperability and secure design, complying with multiple regulations.
- Serve as escalation point for complex architectural, safety and regulatory decisions.
- Introduce AI solutions to energy delivery, balancing innovation with security and compliance.
- Collaborate with the CTO to strengthen Critical Software’s position as a trusted energy engineering partner.
- Mentor senior engineers and architects, and represent the company in industry and standards forums.
Required profile
- 5+ years of software engineering and technical leadership experience, preferably in energy, utilities or critical infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of the energy ecosystem, including utilities, TSOs, DSOs, OEMs and metering vendors.
- Proven expertise in smart‑metering, grid, head‑end, substation automation, embedded and connected platforms, and energy data platforms.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity, interoperability and secure design for regulated environments.
- Practical experience with AI/ML in operational energy, including risk assessment and validation.
