Tax Manager

About the role

Henley & Partners is seeking a Tax Manager to lead the preparation and submission of Personal Income Tax (IRS) returns for individual clients. The role combines technical tax analysis with direct client interaction, ensuring compliance with Portuguese tax regulations and timely delivery of services.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the registry of clients for whom the company acts as fiscal representative and update status on the AT Portal.
• Act as intermediary between clients and the Tax Authority, handling notifications, deadlines, and compliance matters.
• Review client documentation, analyse tax implications, and prepare annual IRS declarations (Modelo 3 and annexes).
• Manage tax simulations and optimisation scenarios to maximise client tax efficiency.
• Respond to communications from the Autoridade Tributária, including clarification requests and compliance issues.
• Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory obligations are met.
• Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients, requesting missing documents and providing tax guidance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in personal income tax preparation and fiscal representation, preferably in Portugal.
• Strong understanding of Portuguese tax legislation, including IRS, NHR/RNH regimes, and foreign‑source income rules.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and tax authorities.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
