Tax Consultant – Financial Services

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Consultant to join a leading international consultancy firm in Lisbon, focusing on financial services clients. The role involves providing tax advisory and compliance support to banks, insurers, asset managers and investment funds, while contributing to multidisciplinary, cross‑border projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support tax advisory and compliance engagements for financial services clients.
• Prepare and review corporate tax returns, VAT filings, withholding tax reports and related documentation.
• Conduct technical tax research on Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Transfer Pricing and taxation of financial instruments.
• Participate in projects covering regulatory changes, tax risk management and cross‑border transactions.
• Draft technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other client deliverables.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day client communication and assist engagement teams in project management.
• Monitor tax legislation and regulatory developments affecting the financial sector.

Required profile

• Degree in Law, Economics, Management, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• 1–3 years of professional experience in tax, preferably within financial services.
• Solid knowledge of Corporate Income Tax and/or Indirect Tax concepts.
• Experience in tax advisory and/or compliance work.
• Exposure to international tax matters or cross‑border projects is a strong advantage.
• Experience in a Big Four environment or within a financial institution is preferred.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English.
