Systems/Software Engineer I

About the role

HPE is seeking a Systems/Software Engineer I to design, develop, and troubleshoot software for a range of products, including operating systems, compilers, networking tools, and databases. This hybrid position requires working on average two days per week from an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for system software subsystems.
• Analyze designs, determine coding and integration activities, and write complete testing plans.
• Lead project teams of software engineers and external partners to deliver reliable, cost‑effective solutions.
• Collaborate with management and development partners on design status, progress, and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languages.
• Experience with software systems testing methodology, including test plan creation and debugging.
• Ability to design software systems for multiple platform types.
