Substation Engineering Consultant – Senior

About the role

This senior‑level position leads project teams delivering design, modification and analysis of high‑voltage substations for utility transmission and energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and scheduling professionals for high‑voltage substation projects.
• Coordinate detailed design phases, ensure compliance with codes and client requirements, and oversee civil, structural and transmission line stakeholders.
• Lead quality, schedule and budget performance, track out‑of‑scope work and manage scope changes with client approval.
• Prepare technical reports and studies in Sargent & Lundy formats and mentor team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 10+ years experience in design engineering and management of high‑voltage utility projects.
• Proven project‑management experience on utility transmission, substation or energy projects.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).

Required skills

• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience with EPC, Owner’s Engineer, traditional or joint‑venture contract arrangements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, proposal writing and cost estimating.
• Familiarity with project management tools and risk assessment techniques.
