Software Engineer – Platform Development

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and operate business‑critical developer platforms that enable fast, reliable and secure software delivery across Siemens’ global enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own platform lifecycle end‑to‑end: design, build, operate, improve, secure and scale foundational services such as artifact management, code quality and CI/CD integrations.
• Develop APIs, automation and controllers that provide self‑service capabilities and increase developer efficiency.
• Implement and continuously improve non‑functional requirements including availability, performance, cost efficiency and observability.
• Engineer reliability through automation, testing and proactive monitoring rather than reactive operations.
• Manage security across the platform stack, from secure design to vulnerability management and hardened runtime configurations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using structured backlog‑driven workflows (e.g., Jira) to manage dependencies.

Required profile

• Ownership mindset – treat services as products, not tasks.
• Comfort operating in high ambiguity and evolving architectures.
• Focus on developer productivity and system‑wide outcomes over local optimisation.

Required skills

• Strong backend/software engineering with Go or Python.
• API design and integration experience.
• Cloud‑native development and micro‑services architecture.
• CI/CD pipelines and automation mindset.
• Observability fundamentals – metrics, logs, tracing.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with developer platforms such as Artifactory, SonarQube, GitHub, Backstage.
• Exposure to SRE practices (SLOs, incident management) and GitOps tools like Helm and ArgoCD.
