Software Developer - Java Backend

About the role

As a Software Engineer in our Product organisation, you’ll work on the continued development of Miles and its backend capabilities. This is a hands‑on product development role where you’ll translate business and domain requirements into Java services, APIs and microservice‑based solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend services within the Miles platform.
• Translate complex business and domain requirements into scalable software solutions and REST APIs.
• Contribute to the microservice architecture, applying Domain‑Driven Design where appropriate.
• Work with both synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns, including event‑driven messaging.
• Take ownership from design through implementation, testing, release and production support.
• Investigate and resolve issues in existing services and continuously improve code quality.

Required profile

• Professional experience in Java backend development.
• Familiarity with modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Proficiency with automated unit and integration testing and Git.
• Ability to understand business domains and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
