Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer. The role ensures the reliability, availability and scalability of the systems, combining software development and operations through automation, monitoring and performance optimisation. It is a fully onsite position in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant systems across cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain observability tools (monitoring, logging, alerting) such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog and ELK.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment and incident response with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimise performance, scalability and incident response to improve uptime.
• Work with development and DevOps teams to improve system design for reliability.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure high availability through load balancing, failover and disaster recovery strategies.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and optimise cloud costs and resource usage on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Take part in on-call rotations and handle incidents quickly.

Required profile

• Around 4+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps or system engineering.
• Experience with incident management, debugging and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
• IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulumi.
• Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Linux system administration and networking fundamentals.
• Scripting (Bash, Python or Go) for automation and monitoring.
• Knowledge of load balancing, failover, distributed systems, security best practices and compliance.
