Shift Lead

About the role

The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring smooth store operations during opening and closing periods when management is absent. This role combines customer service excellence with operational oversight, handling cash, inventory and vendor deliveries while maintaining a welcoming environment for shoppers.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close the store, perform system start‑ups, manage cash handling, and prepare the floor and stockroom for the business day.
• Handle product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe and provide change to registers.
• Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, answering questions and resolving issues.
• Coach and assist team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including opening the back door for deliveries.
• Register all sales on assigned cash register, manage scanning errors, price verifications, voids and price modifications.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts across departments, stockroom and overstock locations.
• Execute daily pricing updates, ensure proper signage and compliance with local pricing regulations.
• Support bookkeeping activities such as cash reports, cash counts, ledgers and bill payments.
• Assist with store cleanliness, maintenance requests and compliance with food safety and outdate programs.

• Effective communicator who can coach and support team members.
