Senior Indirect Tax Analyst – Taxonomy (Barcelona)

About the role

The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst – Taxonomy will join Amazon's Global Tax Calculation Services team in Barcelona. The role focuses on end‑to‑end transaction tax calculation solutions across Europe, North America and Brazil, providing critical tax research, classification and ontology modeling for complex indirect tax landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain critical indirect tax content for Europe, North America and Brazil.
• Assist dual‑tax regime operations in Brazil during the 2026‑2032 transition.
• Maintain and enhance tax calculation software (e.g., Vertex) and ensure accurate tax calculations for a broad product catalogue.
• Provide technical advice on indirect tax rates and support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with business partners and tax department members on product taxability decisions.
• Leverage OWL (Web Ontology Language) to structure and formalize tax classification knowledge.
• Participate in operational‑excellence programs and drive process improvements.
• Contribute to selected projects throughout their life‑cycle.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Brazilian indirect tax or EU VAT, preferably in a Big 4 advisory firm, law firm or multinational tax department.
• Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Law, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in OWL (Web Ontology Language) for ontology modeling.
• Experience with transaction tax calculation software such as Vertex.
• Knowledge of Brazilian tax components (ICMS, IPI, PIS, COFINS) and the Brazilian Tax Reform (Complementary Law 214/2025).
• Familiarity with EU VAT regulations and product‑service taxability research.
