Senior DevOps Engineer – Cloud Platform

About the role

8x8 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its global engineering team. You will own the design, implementation, and operation of a multi‑account, multi‑region public cloud platform, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate product designs against operational excellence standards for availability, security, performance, and cost.
• Partner with product teams for cloud capacity planning and scalability.
• Build and continuously improve a global AWS cloud platform with focus on reliability and high availability.
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Atlantis).
• Design and enforce IAM policies, roles, and permission boundaries following least‑privilege principles.
• Implement observability – monitoring, alerting, logging, and self‑healing automation.
• Document platform designs, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Provide 2nd/3rd‑level support, coordinate with network teams and vendors, and lead incident root‑cause analysis.
• Drive cloud cost‑optimization through right‑sizing, reserved capacity planning, and resource lifecycle management.

Required profile

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure engineering, primarily on AWS and Oracle Cloud (Azure/GCP exposure a plus).
• Strong Linux systems administration (Ubuntu/RHEL) with networking and security hardening experience.
• Hands‑on experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools.
