Senior Competition & EU Law Associate – Lisbon

About the role

Our client, a leading Tier law firm in Lisbon, is seeking a Senior Associate to strengthen its Competition and EU Law practice. The successful candidate will work on high‑profile antitrust matters, advising both domestic and international clients on complex regulatory and litigation issues.

Key responsibilities

• Merger Control: Advise on complex concentration matters and prepare national/EU merger filings.
• Antitrust Conduct: Lead investigations into abuse of dominant positions and restrictive practices.
• Litigation: Represent clients in private enforcement actions before national courts.
• EU Advocacy: Manage EU litigation concerning state infringements and state‑aid compliance.
• Regulatory Advice: Provide strategic counsel on evolving EU competition regulations.
• Matter Management: Drive cross‑border cases with a high degree of autonomy.
• Team Coordination: Lead, mentor, and coordinate junior associates and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Client Relations: Serve as primary contact for high‑profile domestic and international clients.

Required profile

• Solid experience within a reputable competition practice.
• Master’s degree or LL.M. in European/Competition Law (highly advantageous).
• Fully qualified to practice law in Portugal.
• Analytical mindset with ability to dissect intricate legal and economic issues.
• Impeccable attention to detail under tight regulatory deadlines.
• Strong teamwork skills to integrate with a global network of firms.
