Senior Competition & EU Law Associate – Lisbon

About the role

Our client, a leading Tier law firm in Lisbon, is seeking a Senior Associate to strengthen its market‑leading Competition and EU Law practice. The role offers exposure to high‑profile antitrust matters across Portugal and the EU, working closely with senior partners and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Merger Control: advise on complex concentration of undertakings and manage national/EU merger filings.
• Antitrust Conduct: handle high‑stakes investigations into abuses of dominant positions and restrictive practices.
• Litigation: represent clients in private enforcement of competition rules before national courts.
• EU Advocacy: manage EU litigation concerning State infringements and State aid compliance.
• Regulatory Advice: provide strategic counsel on evolving EU competition regulations.
• Matter Management: drive complex, cross‑border cases with a high degree of autonomy.
• Team Coordination: lead, mentor, and coordinate junior associates and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Client Relations: act as the primary point of contact for high‑profile domestic and international clients.

Required profile

• Solid, robust experience within a reputable competition practice, with a proven track record on complex antitrust matters.
• Master’s degree or LL.M. in European/Competition Law is highly advantageous.
• Fully qualified to practice law in Portugal.
