Senior Associate – Competition & EU Law (Lisbon)

About the role

Our client, a leading Tier law firm in Lisbon, is looking for a Senior Associate to strengthen its Competition and EU Law practice. The successful candidate will work on high‑profile antitrust matters, advising both domestic and international clients on complex regulatory and litigation issues.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on merger control matters, including national and EU concentration filings.
• Handle antitrust investigations concerning abuse of dominance and restrictive practices.
• Represent clients in private enforcement actions before national courts.
• Manage EU litigation related to state aid compliance and state infringements.
• Provide strategic regulatory advice on evolving EU competition rules.
• Lead cross‑border cases with a high degree of autonomy.
• Mentor junior associates and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
• Serve as the primary contact for high‑profile clients.

Required profile

• Solid experience within a reputable competition practice, with a proven track record on complex antitrust matters.
• Fully qualified to practice law in Portugal.
• Master’s degree or LL.M. in European/Competition Law is highly advantageous.
• Native or fluent Portuguese and professional fluency in English.
