Senior Accountant & Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant & Financial Controller to join our dynamic, entrepreneurial team in Aveiro. This senior position goes beyond traditional accounting, requiring a strong grasp of business operations, financial control, and management reporting across a diverse portfolio of companies and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise accounting processes for multiple entities.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting standards and tax obligations.
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.
• Handle VAT, corporate income tax, withholding taxes, social security, and other statutory duties.
• Provide financial information for management, banks, investors, auditors, and public bodies.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis.
• Develop and improve financial control tools, reporting templates, and internal processes.
• Support international operations, including invoicing, payments, collections, and cross‑border transactions.
• Help startups with financial reporting, investor updates, business plans, and models.
• Assist real‑estate projects with cost control, financing, and investment reporting.
• Support investment structures, holding companies, and special‑purpose vehicles.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Economics or a related field.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in accounting, tax, financial control or finance management.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting standards and tax compliance.
• Proven ability to manage accounting for multiple companies or business units.
• Experience across various industries and business models.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to produce clear financial information for decision‑making.
