Security Engineer

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is hiring a Security Engineer. You will safeguard the company's applications, infrastructure and data from threats and vulnerabilities, working closely with development, DevOps and IT teams to implement secure coding, vulnerability scanning and threat modeling. This is a fully onsite position in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement threat modeling to identify security risks across applications and infrastructure.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and security assessments.
• Define and enforce secure coding practices with development teams.
• Work with DevOps to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and automate security testing.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents, including root cause analysis and prevention measures.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR and SOC 2.
• Design IAM policies, encryption standards and authentication mechanisms.
• Review features, APIs and third-party integrations with product teams, and develop incident response plans and security documentation.

Required profile

• Around 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, application security or security engineering.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, Qualys, Burp Suite) and penetration testing.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, IDS and security monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with cloud security in AWS, Azure or GCP, including IAM and workload protection.
• Ability to communicate security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Secure coding principles, OWASP Top 10 and threat modeling.
• Scripting and automation with Python, Bash and PowerShell.
• Encryption protocols, network security and API security best practices.
• DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline integration.
