Registered Nurse - Admissions

About the role

The Admissions Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients entering the facility, assessing both physical and behavioral health needs. This role ensures smooth admission and discharge processes while maintaining high standards of patient safety and education.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and behavioral health and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Maintain accurate medical records and educate patients and families about health conditions.
• Verify and transcribe physicians' orders, ensuring legibility and compliance with policy.
• Monitor patients continuously, document changes, and promptly notify physicians of significant status changes.
• Administer medications, including controlled substances, and document administration accurately.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently.
• Provide therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed and communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.

Required profile

• Graduated from an accredited nursing school.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or eligibility to practice.
• At least one year of nursing experience; psychiatric or substance‑use experience is a plus.
• CPR certification and training in de‑escalation and restraint techniques (provided if needed).
• First‑aid certification may be required based on state or facility policies.
