R&D Manager – Pharmaceutical Development

About the role

Hovione is seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead the development, scale‑up and registration of drug substances and particle engineering programmes. The role combines scientific leadership with project and people management to deliver innovative solutions in compliance with GMP, HSE and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define development and validation strategies, oversee scale‑up and manufacturing of clinical or commercial material, and ensure compliance with cGMP and safety policies.
• Supervise multiple projects, allocate resources, monitor progress and guarantee timely delivery for invoicing.
• Promote scientific excellence, expand IP and technology portfolios, and introduce state‑of‑the‑art methodologies and equipment.
• Review and approve technical reports, ensure effective information flow between laboratories and internal/external customers, and support problem‑solving escalations.
• Manage team recruitment, training, performance and budget in line with Hovione’s HR policies and strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of R&D or operations experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with proven project‑leadership experience.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding targets in a regulated environment.
