R&D Engineer Internship – Heat Pump Water Heaters

About the role

We are seeking a motivated engineering student to join Bosch’s R&D team in Aveiro as an extracurricular intern focused on the development of next‑generation heat pump water heaters. The internship offers hands‑on experience in product innovation, laboratory testing and engineering decision‑making within a leading home‑comfort division.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and industrialisation of new heat pump water‑heater products.
• Analyse relevant legislation, standards and technical requirements.
• Define validation strategies, create test plans and develop engineering test methods.
• Conduct laboratory testing, measurements and performance evaluations.
• Prepare clear technical reports and communicate results to cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Participate in troubleshooting, brainstorming and root‑cause analysis activities.
• Assist with engineering change management throughout product development.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong interest in thermal systems, refrigeration or sustainable technologies.
• Good communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical topics simultaneously.
