RAMS Engineer

About the role

As a RAMS Engineer you will act as the technical safety authority on railway projects, ensuring that safety‑critical systems meet the highest standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to validate solutions, lead verification & validation activities, and manage relationships with assessment bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate technical solutions for safety compliance, collaborating with project teams.
• Coordinate, execute, and review Specific Application Safety and RAM activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead Verification & Validation (V&V) activities to demonstrate compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Manage relationships with assessment bodies (ISAs, AsBos, NoBos, DeBos) and external authorities.
• Plan and monitor RAMS and V&V activities, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

Required profile

• University degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of RAMS experience on railway safety‑related systems (control, command, signalling).
• Hands‑on experience with safety and RAM engineering techniques such as PHA, IHA, SHA, FTA and FMECA.
• Strong knowledge of functional safety standards (CENELEC EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, EN50716) and European Railway Regulations (TSIs, CSM‑RA).
• Proficiency with requirements management tools, especially DOORS.
• Advanced written and spoken Portuguese and English; Spanish is a plus.
