Purchasing Manager (m/f/d) – Aveiro

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement function within a multinational industrial environment. Reporting to the Finance Leadership team, you will define purchasing strategies, manage supplier relationships and drive cost optimisation across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead procurement, sourcing and supplier management activities.
• Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements with local and international suppliers.
• Develop and manage supplier performance to meet quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve procurement processes.
• Manage and develop the purchasing team.
• Support cross‑functional and international projects.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, energy and safety standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in purchasing or procurement within an industrial setting.
• Proven team‑management and supplier‑negotiation experience.
• Strong knowledge of supply‑chain and procurement processes.
• Automotive industry experience is highly valued.
• Strategic thinking, strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Analytical mindset and results orientation.
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• SAP or equivalent ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.
• Knowledge of environmental, energy and occupational health & safety management systems.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of commercial and contractual legislation.
