Production Manager – Food Industry

About the role

Bel Portugal S.A., a leader in the agri‑food sector, is looking for a Production Manager to oversee operations at its Ribeira Grande plant in the Azores. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient, cost‑effective production while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee timely production and minimize unnecessary costs through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Motivate and lead the production team, fostering a zero‑accident culture.
• Meet production targets within agreed budgets and comply with certification systems and legal requirements.
• Monitor and enforce quality specifications and production protocols.
• Drive compliance with food safety standards and manage production documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Engineering, Biology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial production, preferably in the dairy sector.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English; French is a plus.
• Proven team‑management experience with strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage stress effectively.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO).
• Familiarity with certification systems and regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of production budgeting and cost‑control techniques.
