Power System Engineer

About the role

Vestas R&D is seeking a Power System Engineer to join the Electrical Models team within the Power Systems Integration module. The role focuses on developing, testing, and validating electrical simulation models for wind turbines and power plant controllers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, verify and validate electrical simulation models to ensure top performance and quality.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Porto, Denmark and global technical sales engineers and Transmission System Operators to meet certification standards.
• Engineer process improvements to optimise development and validation of simulation models.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of power‑systems steady‑state analysis (load flow, short‑circuit) and dynamic modelling (time‑domain, frequency‑domain, stability/transient analysis).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++ and Python, and experience with version‑control systems like Git.
• Familiarity with at least one power‑systems simulation tool (e.g., Simulink, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, PSCAD).
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated ability to devise simple solutions for complex problems, communicate effectively with stakeholders and work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
